Fact A: On the noon of Oct 31 1755, a bright comet was witnessed by peasants in the small village of Linhares in northern Portugal. It persisted until two hours after midnight, then ended in flames. (AC Rogue’s early code name was AC Comet)
Fact B: The statue of Holy Lady of the Carmo was rescued by Father Francisco Augusto. He climbed up the dangerous rubble, then carried her out of the Carmo Convent.
Fact C: When the great earthquake happened, in several areas near Lisbon, groundwater broke into red earth, then turned into blood red.
Fact D: Three tremors hit Lisbon on this day. Half an hour after the last one ended, the water of Tagus river vanished, left ships and cargoes on the riverbed. Minutes later, three separated tsunamis followed, dragged ships onto the land, and overflew the lower part of the city.
